New BT Openzone hotspot Directory launched

We have re-launched the BT Openzone hotspot search directory - meaning finding hotspot locations online has now become a whole lot easier.

As well as delivering much more accurate results on hotspot searches, the new directory service has been streamlined so the process for finding hotspots is more intuitive and easy to use.

Search options

By visiting the BT Openzone find page, BT Openzone customers are able to choose from 3 search options for finding hotspot locations.

  • The quick search allows users to search with a variety of criteria, and they can enter either a postcode or part postcode, a location, or a venue name. These options allow users to locate a convenient hotspot with whatever information they have.
  • The advanced search option allows users to enter specific information such as venue name, venue type and/or town/city. This gives users the ability to find a specific type of hotspot or specific hotspot location.
  • The map search allows users to zoom into on a map of the UK or the world, and view and locate hotspots that are in a specific geographical area.

Other benefits

  • The search logic prioritises and displays results that are most useful to the customer - making searches as relevant as possible.
  • With postcode and map searches, a list of hotspots are displayed in proximity order meaning users can see the 10 closest hotspots to their search.
  • The streamlined layout of the hotspot search pages means there are less steps for a customer to take to find a hotspot.
  • Individual hotspot locations are displayed clearly with the accompanying address and geographical map, meaning customers have accurate information of how to get to the site.

What next?

Further improvements to the mapping section of the hotspot Directory are planned over the next couple of months so keep an eye out for further improvements.
